According to county health officials, several beaches in San Diego County were closed to swimmers and surfers on Saturday due to high bacteria levels.

Due to bacterial levels exceeding health standards, water contact bans have been imposed at the following locations:

– Silver Strand Shoreline, seashore from North Carnation to South Avenida Lunar;

– Imperial Beach Shorelines, seashore from the southern end of Seacoast Drive to north of Carnation Avenue;

– Tijuana Slough Shoreline, seashore of the U.S.-Mexico border, including Border Field State Park and Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge.

In addition, water contact warnings have been issued for the following locations because bacteria levels exceeded health standards:

— La Jolla, children’s pool;

— Mission Bay, North Cove;

— San Diego Bay, Coronado – Tidelands Park shoreline;

— Vacation Isle, 150 feet on each side of the south drainage;

— Del Mar, outlet of the San Dieguito River – 150′ north and south.
