It’s no nonsense to release a new music feature for Instagram with singer Sabrina Carpenter.

A new option launched on the social media platform on Thursday allows users to add a tune to their profiles, parent company Meta announced.

Carpenter fans can get a first taste by visiting her profile. The “Nonsense” and “Espresso” singer used the feature to introduce her new single “Taste” ahead of her new album, “Short n’ Sweet,” which drops Friday.

Instagram users can choose a song to play on their profile, creating a new vibe for their page or perhaps reliving their MySpace days.

How the new music feature in Instagram works

Music added to a profile appears below the bio. It seems like adding a song or viewing others’ profile songs is only possible through the Instagram mobile app. Unlike MySpace, songs don’t seem to be playing automatically as of Thursday morning.

To add a song, go to your profile on Instagram and tap “Edit Profile.” Scroll down and a new “Music” option should appear in the list. Tap to add and search for an artist or song.

After selecting a preferred tune, a 30-second clip of the selected song will be suggested, similar to how it works when adding a song to an Instagram Reel or Story. Change this by moving the selector to a different part of the song if needed. After tapping Done, the song will appear on your profile.

To change or remove the song, go back to Edit Profile or just tap the song on your profile. A menu will appear where you can remove the song or replace it with another one.

Other recent Instagram updates

Instagram has a few related Easter eggs that tie in with Carpenter’s new music. Notably, one of the Easter eggs is found in notes, whether they appear in the feed, on Reels, or in the notes bar. Similar to the gold ones during the Paris Olympics, notes turn baby blue (with a 💋 kissy face emoji) if they contain any of the following Carpenter-related words:

  • Sabrina or Sabrina Carpenter
  • 💋
  • short and sweet
  • short and sweet
  • please, please, please
  • espresso
  • ☕️
  • Sat
  • I work long hours because I am a singer
  • Dream has come true for you
  • brand new for you
  • don’t make me hate you deeply

Another Easter egg is a chat theme for Instagram direct messages that, according to Meta, is inspired by the album cover of Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet.”
