Is Inside Out 3 possible? Here’s everything we know so far

Among the many films that have caused a sensation at the Hollywood box office in recent months, the most surprising actor was Inside Out 2. Of course, the sequel to the hit film was expected to make big box office numbers, but no one expected it to make a billion dollars. The Pixar film, which sees the main character grow up and experience new emotions along with the old ones, was one of the most anticipated films of the year. Now that fans have embraced the sequel and are obsessed with it, they are impatiently waiting for the studio to announce a third film and hope to find out how long the wait will be. It seems that the makers have now announced their plans for the third film in the series.

According to the latest reports, there is an update on what is happening with Inside Out 3 at Pixar. Pixar executive Pete Docter revealed in a conversation with Fandango that they are “thinking about ideas” about what direction the third film in the series could take and that there is a lot to explore and try out. This news is a relief for fans and gives them hope that a third film could indeed be on the horizon. Read on to find out more.

“We are in the same place where we came from (Everything is upside down),” Docter said. “We just thought, ‘Okay, if we were going to do something, what would it be?’ And we just came up with ideas. Who knows?” Considering that almost a decade passed between the first two films — nine years, to be exact — we shouldn’t expect the third film to come out right away.

Docter also explained how ideas from both Everything is upside down And Inside Out 2 could be integrated into Inside Out 3. He mentioned that there’s a lot more to explore, as they only scratched the surface with the first two films. “I would love it if it felt like we’ve only seen about three percent of this massive world and the rest is still out there,” Docter said. “So there’s a lot to explore, a lot of things that we played with in the first or second film that didn’t work for story reasons — (they) didn’t fit thematically — so we have a lot to play with.”

According to Box Office Mojo, Inside Out 2 has grossed $1.629 billion at the worldwide box office. The film stars Maya Hawke as Fear, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear and Liza Lapira as Disgust. The film was directed by Kelsey Mann, written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, and produced by Mark Nielsen.
