4 current Lions draft picks who may be playing their last game against the Steelers

The Detroit Lions will end their preseason game on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers plan to use their regular players as there is still competition for the quarterback position to be resolved. It is safe to assume that the Lions will do the same as in the first two preseason games and will not use their regular players.

If the Lions’ regular players are used, they will not play much.

So guys battling for roles and spots on the roster will have plenty of opportunities to shine against the Steelers. As head coach Dan Campbell hinted this week, players who don’t make the Lions’ roster will be presented for possible opportunities elsewhere as each team makes its cuts to 53 players.

The season finale could also be the last opportunity for some of the Lions’ recent draft picks to make an impact. Some may see being a “Brad Holmes pick” as an advantage, but that ultimately shouldn’t matter as the judges decide who deserves a spot on the 53-man roster.

These four recent Lions draft picks may be playing their last game for the team in the preseason finale.

Jefferson showed some glimpses of his potential as a rookie, but then spent the entire 2022 season on the practice squad and ended up on the injured list last season due to injury.

So it came out of nowhere that Jefferson was recognized as a standout player at the start of training camp and someone not to be underestimated in the battle for the Lions’ running back spots. But an injury prevented him from playing in the second preseason game against the Chiefs. Assuming he can play against the Steelers, he’s on the wrong side of the roster (if he’s even still on the roster).
