Italian prosecutors “do not rule out manslaughter” after opening an investigation into the sinking of the Bayesian superyacht that killed seven people.

British technology magnate Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah were among those rescued after the ship sank near Porticello at around 5 a.m. local time on Monday.

Hannah was found alone in her own cabin 50 meters below the surface, rescue workers announced during a press conference on Saturday.

Five others, including her father, were found in a separate compartment.

Meanwhile, the body of Canadian-Antiguan citizen Recaldo Thomas, who worked as a cook on the boat, was recovered from the scene of the accident on Monday.

Ambrogio Cartosio, prosecutor of the nearby town of Termini Imerese, said in court on Saturday that his office had launched initial investigations into manslaughter.

At a press conference on Saturday, he said that the high number of deaths off the coast of Sicily may have been due to “not entirely proper behavior.”

However, all investigative approaches are being examined, he said.

Firefighter Bentivoglio Fiandra said the yacht had already sunk when the distress call came in.

It was on the right side and the dead had tried to hide “in the cabins on the left side” of the ship.
