TT Show Episode 48 – Impressions of Black Myth Wukong, Gamescom and more

Black Myth: Wukong is breaking records on PC, becoming one of the most popular and most played single-player games in just a few days. The action RPG combines fast-paced combat with Souls-like gameplay mechanics in a very cinematic and detailed world. Jak and Kost start this week’s episode of The TT Show by discussing the launch, the cutting-edge ray-traced graphics, and gameplay.

This week is Gamescom week, the biggest gaming trade show and conference of the year, so Jak and Kosta also run through some of the big highlights from the show. The surprise announcement of Borderlands 4 comes shortly after the movie adaptation flopped at the box office, a new Mafia game (Kosta convinces Jak he needs to play the series), and more.

Some of the “more” games involve Microsoft. Xbox has announced that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which has been exclusive to Xbox and PC, will be coming to PlayStation 5 a month or two after the Xbox Series X|S launches. This is a big step for Microsoft and effectively marks the end of console exclusivity.

What does this mean for the future? More games on more platforms – which is ultimately good news. Still, it’s a change from the traditional console strategy that seems to have been accelerated thanks to Microsoft’s nearly $70 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Also in this episode, Jak and Kost talk about NVIDIA’s groundbreaking partnership with MediaTek that will bring technologies like G-SYNC Pulsar to more displays, eliminating the need for a dedicated G-SYNC module. And at Gamescom, NVIDIA showed off a series of new “RTX On” trailers, including full ray tracing for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Avowed, and more.

In the world of science, the duo learns about the latest brain chip technology and a hilarious story about self-driving cars causing chaos by crashing into each other and honking at each other.

You can find all this and more in the latest episode of the TT Show.
