The 7th episode of the second season of The Serpent Queen is the second best episode of the season so far

In my opinion, The Snake Queen Season 1 was a little more delicious in terms of the internal drama between Catherine’s establishment in France and her complicated relationship with her husband, King Henry, and his mistress, Diane de Poitiers.

However, there have been a few standout episodes in Season 2 so far, and that would be Episode 5 and also this week’s episode. Here are my thoughts on The Snake Queen Season 2, Episode 7, “A House Divided,” which is the second best in my opinion. Spoilers below.

The Serpent Queen - Season 2 2024

A lot happened in this episode, and I think all of it sets the stage for what’s going to happen in the finale. And I’m really looking forward to the final episode because I really think all of these complications that Catherine has been dealing with all season are going to come to a head. And all of her little grins at the camera in episode 7 suggest that she’s planning something big. I don’t want to get in the way of that snake queen.

I think the reason The Snake Queen I liked Season 2, Episode 7 so much because it was exciting and moved the story forward in an exciting way. Something big and new happens to each of the characters – the Bourbons’ betrayal is revealed and they side with Edith, Margot and Francois de Guise might marry, King Charles is baptized as a Protestant and Catherine promises Edith the regency. I don’t think that will actually happen though. We’ll see!

The Serpent Queen - Season 2 2024

But not everything is set in stone yet. Queen Elizabeth is gone, Charles could marry CeCe of Austria and Catherine now wants Margot to marry Henry Bourbon to appease both the Catholics and the Protestants. The finale is shrouded in mystery and the stakes are high, so to speak. Other betrayals such as those of Rahema and Alessandro have also been brought to light in the episode, which gives things an interesting twist.

We are so excited to see how the season ends. And if you remember the season 2 premiere, it started with Catherine surrounded by a pile of dead bodies at the dinner table. That will surely come back! And once again, episode 7, aka the penultimate episode, was able to set up everything that awaits us in the finale. Episode rating level: A.

The Snake Queen Season 2 will be broadcast/streamed on Fridays on Starz.
