Conservative news site calls for expedited release of Gallegos’ divorce documents

The Arizona Court of Appeals agreed to review the case to release Ruben and Kate Gallego’s divorce records under expedited procedure. The Washington Free Beacona conservative news site, petitioned the Yavapai County Superior Court to release the divorce records. A judge partially granted the site’s request to release the divorce records of the future U.S. senator and Phoenix mayor, allowing some but not all of the deletions requested by the Gallegos. The two appealed, seeking a stay of the order to release the records, which the Arizona Court of Appeals granted. The Washington Free Beacon then filed a motion to expedite the briefing and hearing schedule in light of the upcoming 2024 election, but again faced opposition from Gallegos, who claimed the release could have been filed as early as Gallegos’s January 2023 Senate campaign announcement, arguing that “nothing new has happened in fact or law.” In an order, the appeals court partially granted the motion to expedite proceedings and asked the parties to file briefs on the appeals court’s jurisdiction and the merits of the case. An opening brief from Gallegos is due Sept. 13, and a response from The Washington Free Beach is due on September 20th.
