We’ve already seen promising signs from past RTU tournament winners: Rinya Nakamura, Hyun Sung Park, and Rei Tsuruya have all impressed from the start, and Season 2 winners Rongzhu and Yizha will also be competing in the near future.

The first of two fight programs on Friday featured the flyweight and bantamweight semifinals, with an opening non-tournament bout between former Invicta FC champion Danni McCormack and former Dana White’s Contender Series competitor Yan Qihui.

After the final pairings in the flyweight and bantamweight divisions had been decided in the early evening, the action shifted to the featherweight and women’s strawweight divisions in the second competition of the evening.

The second wave began with a non-tournament welterweight bout between undefeated Samandar Murodov and CFFC veteran Jonathan Piersma, looking to pick up where the opening quartet left off and up the ante as we move toward the finale of the Road to UFC tournament in Macau in November.
