Abby actor from season 2 of The Last of Us was granted additional protection due to toxic fan concerns

As The Last of Us Season 2 is approaching and viewers are eagerly awaiting the introduction of the titular video game’s most controversial character, Abby Anderson, in HBO’s live-action series. Star Isabela Merced reveals that Kaitlyn Dever, who plays Abby in the upcoming season, needed extra security during production because people hate her character in real life.



During an interview with Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused In the podcast, Merced talked about how Dever received additional security details while The Last of Us Season 2 was canceled. Although Abby has a divisive reputation considering what she has done The Last of Us Part II“Merced can’t understand why some fans can’t distinguish the character from the person playing it.”There are people who really hate Abby even though she is not a real person. Just a memory, not a real person. And so Kaitlyn had to be additionally guarded by security forces when it came to filming,” she said.

Although Dever’s casting was praised by many, including Abby’s voice actress Laura Bailey, others criticized the change as her character does not resemble Abby from the game. Merced addressed the casting backlash and other criticisms of Season 2, expressing her anger and frustration. Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal, who played Joel in The Last of Usgave cryptic answers when we asked him if the scene between his character and Abby would appear in Season 2.
