The coroner has released new information after a 34-year-old woman died Wednesday evening after falling from the 10th floor of a high-rise building in Waukegan.

Waukegan Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of an injured person at the Lakeside Tower Apartments at 200 Julian Street around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

When emergency services arrived, they found a woman who was unconscious and not breathing.

A LifeNet rescue helicopter was called but was unavailable as it was already assigned to another mission.

Life-saving measures were performed and she was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The woman’s death was confirmed in the emergency room shortly after 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded.

Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek identified the victim as a 34-year-old woman from Waukegan.

An autopsy was performed on Thursday and preliminary results showed the woman died of blunt force trauma. Banek said the woman jumped from the building.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Scott Chastain said the case remains under investigation, but no evidence of foul play has been found.

Banek said the coroner’s office is urging anyone experiencing emotional distress to call 988 at any time for assistance.
