Cooking show “Gastronauts” shows how far Dropout has come
The streaming service Stand out had a stellar year in 2023 and its latest original is an example of the progress it has made. The brand, previously known as UniversityHumor has announced Gastronautsan upcoming cooking show featuring talent from TV and TikTok.
Gastronautshosted by Jordan Myrickgives the tried and tested cooking competition format a dropout twist. Each episode features chefs who have previously appeared in TV shows such as Chopped And Supermarket surveillance are faced with ridiculous challenges.
After working with ingredients such as dinosaur nuggets and vending machine snacks, the contestants present their work to the judges, who are dropout subscribers from hit shows such as Game changer And Dimensions 20. Familiar faces like Sam Rich (who is CEO of Dropout) and Brennan Lee Mulligan Newcomers like TikTok star Kendahl Landreth will be added. Gastronauts The presenter also has a large fan base on TikTok.

Dropout’s efforts to attract new talent have certainly been helped by the company’s strong results. At a time when many streaming services are struggling to survive, Dropout managed to double its subscriber count in calendar year 2023. Reich has driven this growth by applying the lessons learned from his nearly two-decade career in digital media.
“Once you are a fan of our talent, you will see them not just in one show, but in multiple shows,” said Reich Fast Company earlier this year. “It’s very hard to be a fan of one of our shows without being a fan of another.”
Gastronauts gives Dropout another chance to bring new personalities into its appealing mix. Perhaps Landreth’s fans will subscribe after seeing her on the cooking show — and Dropout’s cast of characters will encourage those consumers to stick around for the long haul.
