Youth Cup: Record start in Tschagguns

The first FIS Youth Cup competitions of the 2024/25 season took place today in Tschagguns (AUT).

A total of a record-breaking 128 athletes from 13 nations took part in the Youth Cup I and II. The program includes a Gundersen individual competition for all categories on Friday and Saturday.

The first competitions took place today at the Montafon ski jumping centre HS 66 and in the town on a 1.2-kilometre cross-run course.

In the Boys I category, Austrian Simon Grossegger was in the lead after the ski jumping part with 63 meters and 113.8 points.

Second place went to German Hannes Mey with the best jump of the day at 63.5 meters and Maximilian Ferner from Austria (60 m), both with 102.9 points. They started the 2.4-kilometer cross-country race 33 seconds after Grossegger.

The Austrian achieved a confident home victory and kept his competitors at bay.
He crossed the finish line first in 9:55.9 minutes ahead of Leon Kristoffer Kjoellestad from Norway (+27.3 seconds), who finished 6th.th after the jump and showed a strong comeback.
Third place went to Slovakian Marek Potancok (+33.1 sec.), who fought his way onto the podium together with the Norwegian after finishing 7th.th on the hill.

The fastest race was shown by the German Till Messerschmidt with 9:19.6 min in 4th place.

In the Girls I category, Anna Brandner took the lead with the longest jump of the day at 62.5 meters. The Austrian collected 109.1 points and was the first to start the 2.4-kilometer run.

Her teammate Amy Doegl took second place with 58.5 meters (103.5 points), 17 seconds behind Brandner.

Third place went to Michele-Sophie Eller (62 m, 96.2 points) from Germany, 39 seconds behind the leader.

The German showed a strong run, caught up with Brandner and secured the victory ahead of her teammate Mareike Züfle (+12 sec.), who finished in second place after a fantastic comeback from 9th place.th Place after jumping.
Third place went to Capucine Mesnil from France, 21 seconds behind Eller.

In the Boys II category, Norwegian Alvin Le secured victory in the ski jumping with a jump of 65 meters. With a total score of 115.2, he went into the subsequent 3.4 km cross-country run with a lead of 4 seconds.

Second place went to Hektor Kapustik from Slovakia with the best jump of the day at 66.5 meters (114 points).

Third place after the ski jumping went to Pole Mikolaj Wantulok with 61.5 meters (108.6 points), 20 seconds behind Le.

In a thrilling race, Le kept his rivals at bay until the finish line, while Lovro Percl Serucnik came racing up from behind. The Slovenian, who finished 14th,th showed a fantastic run after the jump and finished second, only 10.5 seconds behind the Norwegian.
Pole Mikolaj Wantulok (+18.5 sec.) defended his position from the jumping round and finished third.

In the Girls II category, Marion Droz Vincent took the lead after the ski jump with the best distance of the day of 60 meters. The Frenchwoman collected 102.5 points and went into the 2.4 km run with a lead of 4 seconds.

Second place went to Slovenian Tia Malovrh (59.5 m, 101.1 points) ahead of Ukrainian Karina Kozlova (58.5 m, 99.9 points), 8 seconds behind.

With an incredible comeback, Swiss rider Giulia Belz worked her way up from 14th place after jumping to the front with a jump (+1:06min) and overtaking one competitor after the other.
In the end, she took the win comfortably, 8 seconds ahead of Slovenian Masa Likozar Brankovic, who finished in 5th place.thPlace after the ski jumping part.
Droz Vincent defended her podium position and finished third, 12 seconds behind the winner.
