Eagles could poach ex-pro bowlers from rivals to provide necessary boost

The Philadelphia Eagles don’t have any glaring gaps at the moment.

Philadelphia’s biggest hole was obviously the third receiver spot as the 2024 National Football League regular season quickly approaches. The Eagles answered all questions by trading within the division to the Washington Commanders for former first-round draft pick Jahan Dotson.

The Eagles don’t necessarily need to make another move as the roster appears to be well-positioned, but a little more depth on the offensive line could never hurt.

One player who might make sense now is former Commanders left tackle Charles Leno, who was recently released, according to Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press.

“The Washington Commanders’ roster restructuring has begun,” Whyno said. “On Friday, they released left tackle Charles Leno and tight end Logan Thomas, releasing two veterans in their 30s as the new regime led by recently hired general manager Adam Peters puts its stamp on the organization.”

Leno could be an interesting player for the Eagles. Philadelphia’s offensive line is in good shape, but Leno is a former Pro Bowler who could likely be acquired cheaply as the season approaches. Plus, signing him would add another player to the rotation in case injuries occur during the season.

Philadelphia has the salary cap space needed to make a deal and should look to free agency at this point to see if anyone can help.
