In disasters where many people lose their homes, the impact is not limited to a single city or town. It spreads out and ripples out into the surrounding area as survivors are forced to look for a new home. This is the story of what happened after the famous fire in Paradise, California, and where many of the survivors ended up. It’s a cautionary tale about a city that was in the crosshairs of both the climate crisis and the housing crisis, and what happened when thousands of homeless people showed up on its doorstep.
