KL Rahul’s bat for the 2023 World Cup final remains unsold

One of the most talked about items in the auction was KL Rahul’s signed bat from the ICC World Cup 2023 final. This bat, used by Rahul during his innings against Australia, was expected to attract attention.

To the surprise of many, however, the racket remained unsold at the auction. The bidders did not show the expected interest.

Rahul had scored a quiet innings of 66 runs when India were struggling and losing wickets throughout the match. His innings helped India to 240 runs. However, his batting was criticised for its slowness and it seems like people wanted to be associated with that particular innings.

At the end of the day, Australia were the better team. Travis Head’s innings under pressure saw them reach their target with 6 wickets in hand. The match left a heartbreaking impression on the hostile crowd of over 90,000 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

While KL Rahul’s bat remained unsold, other auction items saw participation. MS Dhoni’s signed cricket bat from IPL 2024 and Virat Kohli’s signed jersey and gloves from ICC World Cup 2019 were among the items that attracted huge bids.

Another highlight of the auction was Rohit Sharma’s signed bat from the 2023 World Cup. The event successfully raised funds for the Vipla Foundation, with Rahul’s unsold bat being a surprise result.
