Dave Myers’ widow said she has missed her husband “terribly” since his death earlier this year.

The Hairy Bikers legend died in February, just under two years after announcing he had been diagnosed with cancer in May 2022. His best friend Si King shared the news of Dave’s death in an emotional social media post.

Si said he, Dave’s wife Liliana Orzac, his family and close friend David were at his side when he sadly passed away on February 28 at the age of 66.

Lili has now spoken about how Dave courted her when he and Si were filming his Hairy Bikers show in Romania. Lili had been helping with production when she met Dave in 2006, reports MEN.

They kept in touch over the years via email while Dave was travelling, eventually meeting again in his hometown of Barrow, where he wooed her with a sandwich. They married in 2011.

Lili told BBC Radio Cumbria: “It was not an easy time. I watched this man die for several years, every day, bit by bit.”

Despite being ill, Dave continued to film episodes of The Hairy Bikers between his chemotherapy sessions, and Lili talked about how she encouraged him to keep working on the show because it was “his life.”

She said that no matter what Dave was going through, who she described as “larger than life”, always “made the most of every moment”. She added: “He always said, ‘Let’s make the most of today, we don’t know what tomorrow will bring’.”

Lili is looking forward to Dave Day, an event in June that will see thousands of bikers ride along the M6 ​​from London to Barrow in his memory. The ride on June 8th is to raise money for the children’s charity NSPCC and cancer research.

Lili added: “I never imagined it would be this big.” She also said the expected turnout for the charity event shows how Dave has “touched so many lives” and said the support makes her feel like she is “celebrating with a nation.”
