Flair Espresso is ready to go

Southern California-based manual espresso machine maker Flair Espresso is preparing to launch the Flair GO, the company’s lightest, smallest and most travel-friendly coffee maker yet. The Flair GO is designed to disassemble in six places to fit into a compact travel case, can be used with ground coffee and is also compatible with pods. Flair is launching a Kickstarter campaign to support the product starting Tuesday, August 27. Here’s the link to the pre-release.

Lid manufacturer FoamAroma renames itself and introduces Un-Lid

US-based coffee cup lid manufacturer FoamAroma has launched a new rebrand, including its core product, now known as the Un-Lid. With the support of award-winning roaster/distributor Onyx Coffee Lab, the lid company founded by engineer and coffee taster Craig Bailey unveiled the new brand and lids at the recent Coffee Fest trade show in Los Angeles. The rebrand was led by coffee-focused company Black Sheep.

Central American Cup of Excellence season ends with record results

Last week’s Mexico Cup of Excellence auction concluded the Central America CoE season for all six participating countries: Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Mexico. The six auctions generated a total of 21,661 bids on 192 winning CoE lots, with an average price per pound of $21.54 per pound. All six auctions raised more in 2024 than in 2023, organizers said.

Angelino’s continues CoE top-lot buying series with two Mexican coffee varieties

Speaking of the Mexico Cup of Excellence auction, Los Angeles-based roaster Angelino’s Coffee has continued its remarkable streak of success in the top CoE auction lots. The company placed the winning bids on the highest-priced coffees in two different CoE categories in Mexico, purchasing a naturally processed Gesha coffee from the Las Nieves farm in Oaxaca for $75.10 per pound and a washed Bourbon coffee from the La Perla farm in Veracruz for $55.20 per pound.

Introducing the ASEAN Coffee Flavor Sphere, Thailand Edition

The ASEAN Coffee Federation this week launched a Thailand-specific version of the ASEAN Coffee Flavor Sphere, a regional coffee cupping companion tool originally launched in 2022. The poster can be downloaded free of charge after registration.

Nordic chain Espresso House appoints Thomas Kelly as new CEO of the group

Nordic coffee chain Espresso House has appointed Thomas Kelly as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective September. Thomas was previously CEO of McDonald’s Finland and Sweden and Global Executive Director of Costa Coffee.

Well-known lifestyle personality Emma Chamberlain has become co-CEO of Chamberlain Coffee, the coffee company she founded four years ago at the age of 18. “When the company was founded, I knew I had a lot to learn before I could take on the position I hold today,” Chamberlain told Forbes.
