… about the partnership with the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP) via the Fort Worth Report.

TechFW takes mission control for North Texas entrepreneurs. The Fort Worth-based incubator partners with the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program to offer up to 40 hours of free tech support to small businesses.

“That part,” Blackburn told the Fort Worth Report, “was a no-brainer for us.”

The SATOP program was originally developed to extend NASA’s extensive knowledge base and resources to benefit small businesses and stimulate economic growth. Today, the program, funded by the state of Texas, connects companies not only with the space agency but also with other partners in the aerospace industry.

According to TechFW, all members and alumni can apply for SATOP’s 40 hours of free technical assistance or for acceptance into the Texas A&M Capstone Design Program. Companies must have a unique technical challenge that is solvable within the 40-hour limit.

Blackburn and his team are thinking beyond that and coordinating an innovation network. By leveraging TechFW’s connections, they hope to link advanced technology solutions with entrepreneurs across North Texas and the Texas Panhandle, according to the Fort Worth release. As Blackburn said, “You don’t have to start from scratch to build this network.”
