STAMFORD, Conn. – August 22, 2024 – NBC Sports’ motorsports coverage this weekend will be dominated by the penultimate NASCAR Cup Series regular-season race at the legendary Daytona International Speedway on NBC and Peacock on Saturday, INDYCAR at Portland International Raceway on USA Network and Peacock on Sunday, and Pro Motocross from Ironman Raceway exclusively on Peacock on Saturday.

NASCAR: CUP SERIES COKE ZERO SUGAR 400 and XFINITY SERIES WAWA 250 with COCA-COLA power

Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, hosts the NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400 on NBC this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. A 30-minute Countdown to green Live coverage of the race continues on NBC on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.

With only two races left in the regular season and 16 playoff spots at stake, Tyler Reddick (814 points) jumped to first place in the Cup Series points standings after his win at Michigan last week. Chase Elliott (-10), Denny Hamlin (-28), Kyle Larson (-32) and Ryan Blaney (-82) round out the top 5. Top 10 finishers 2023 Bubba Wallace and two-time series champion Kyle Busch are on the brink of the playoff race.

Coverage from Daytona begins this Friday on the USA Network with Xfinity Series qualifying at 3:00 p.m. ET, with Cup Series qualifying presented later that day at 5:00 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

NBC Sports’ Daytona coverage includes members of the broadcast team who are part of the racing teams of Austin Dillon And Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Highlighting the teamwork and contributions at all levels required for a successful day on the racetrack.

US Olympic swimmer Caeleb Dressel And Bobby Finkewho won a total of five Olympic medals in Paris this summer, will serve as honorary event officials and honorary starters, respectively. Both Dressel and Finke are native Floridians and graduates of the University of Florida who still train in the state.

NBC Sports announced on Tuesday that the experienced motorsport commentator Leigh Diffey will make his debut in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series and serve as lead live commentator this weekend and during the playoffs and season championship in Phoenix.

In his second NBC Sports appearance this year after the Indianapolis 500, seven-time NASAR Cup Series winner Jimmie Johnson will participate in pre- and post-coke coverage of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 and provide commentary during the race from the Peacock Pit Box along with the NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale JarrettJohnson won this race in 2013 and is a two-time winner of the Daytona 500 (2006, 2013), while Jarrett won this race in 1999 and is a three-time winner of the Daytona 500 (1993, 1996, 2000).

21-time Cup Series race winner and “Mayor” of NASCAR Jeff Burtonwho won this race in 2000, and crew chief of the Daytona 500 Steve Letarte will serve as an analyst for the Cup and Xfinity Series races at Daytona International Speedway this weekend. Rick Allen will serve as live commentator for Xfinity Series qualifying and the Xfinity Series race on Friday. Marty Snider, Kim Coon, Dave Burns will act as pit reporters at both races, while Parker Kligerman will be there on Saturday as a pit reporter.

Snider will host pre- and post-race coverage along with Johnson and Jarrett.

Additionally, NBC Sports is offering “NASCAR Nonstop” this Saturday night for the broadcast of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on NBC. Using only side-by-side breaks during green flag action so spectators don’t miss a single moment of the action.

The final race of the 2024 Pro Motocross Championship regular season culminates in the Ironman National Finals this Saturday at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, at 1:00 p.m. ET exclusively on Peacock.
