“COBRA: Rebellion” Season 3, Episode 5: Summary

It is time to call a COBRA, because the penultimate episode of COBRA: Rebellion begins. As revealed late last week, Dan Goddard, the father of the deceased protester Polly, has teamed up with two former military terrorists to steal the Damocles XR, a sophisticated long-range mortar weapon. COBRA is tasked with discovering what he is aiming for: it is revenge on Prime Minister Robert Sutherland for Polly’s death, payable as a £30 million ransom. Audrey Hemmings says the break-in at the arms exhibition was reported, but downplays the incident to Condor Aerotech’s director Gerald Kendrick (Geoffrey McGivern) gives a frightening introduction to the extent of the weapon.

Robert Sutherland: “I saw the land through Ruin Britannia. I stood on the brink of Armageddon. I saw through the solar flare. I stared at the sun and I’m still here.”

No one knows where Goddard and his companions are; the original vehicle they stole was found burned out. But that’s about all the plot-wise, because towards the end of the meeting, Anna receives the photo a security guard took of her and Robert making out in the tunnels in the final moments of the episode. Worse, she’s not the only one, because Archie practically falls for her. The photo has actually been leaked: even Robert’s daughter Ellie has seen it.

As Ellie goes jogging in the park, she notices she is being watched by a hooded figure who turns away, drops her phone, and disappears from the path. Ellie picks up the phone and realizes it belongs to COBRA’s other most wanted criminal: Nate. He is desperate and threatens to name her as a co-conspirator if she doesn’t ask her father for help; he is wanted for murder and needs a new identity, immunity, and a safe place to hide. Ellie, still stubborn, asks Francine Bridge instead, grumbling when Francine also points out that she should ask her father.
