Ovall is in high demand – Jamaica Observer

Everywhere.

Ever since he was bitten by the music bug, St. Elizabeth-based dancehall artiste Ovarall has aspired to one day perform on the Reggae Sumfest stage.

This dream came true last month with his performance at Dancehall Night (Night 1).

This opportunity came after he won a talent competition at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, St. James.

“I didn’t know about Star Struck Wednesdays until one of my baby mother’s brothers told me about it. He encouraged me to enter the competition because he thought I could win. I’m glad I took his advice,” Ovarall said in an interview with Jamaica Observer‘S
Syringes.

By winning the competition, Ovall automatically secured a place to perform at the internationally renowned music festival.

“Although I didn’t have much time on stage, I (think) I made a good impression on the audience. I’m very grateful to the people at Pier 1 and the organizers of Reggae Sumfest for giving me this opportunity,” he noted.

The artist said he is still very excited about his Sumfest debut.

“It was an exhilaration, a feeling I’ve dreamed of for years. It’s like heaven has come to earth. I have to say, I imagined myself gracing such a big stage and it was only a matter of time before it became a reality,” he explained.

Ovarall is currently promoting a new single titled Speak the truth which was released via Top M Records.

He told Syringes he is proud of his rotation.

The young artist says he is no stranger to the stage and the challenges. About 10 years ago, Ovarall took second place in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s Big Stage competition in St. Elizabeth, an experience he always wanted to improve on.

According to Ovarall, his musical recognition has increased since his experience at Reggae Sumfest.

“Reggae Sumfest was actually the beginning of my journey for me. I was introduced to producers, recorded a few singles and gave a few interviews. Since then, I have also received several bookings for performances,” revealed Ovarall.

He wants to make the most of these opportunities to advance his career.

Ovarall said: “My goal was to attract attention and expand my fan base. I am very happy with how my career has progressed so far.”
