Instagram users can now add music to their profiles: Here’s how

Instagram has finally introduced the song on a profile for its users. Previously, you were only allowed to add music to the post, but now the social media platform is taking it a step further. Starting today, users on Instagram can add a 30-second song to their profile bio. However, it is worth noting that the song does not play automatically when you open a profile, like a high-quality greeting card. You have to click on the song to hear it.

How do I add songs to my profile?

To add a song, users can head to the Edit Profile page, search for and select a track from Instagram’s licensed music library (the same as for Reels and Posts), and then choose a 30-second segment to display on their profile. According to a screenshot shared by Instagram, a category called “Key” will be added to the bio, displaying the selected song. A song will stay on a user’s profile until they delete it or replace it with a new one.

To promote this feature, Instagram has decided to partner with Espresso singer Sabrina Carpenter. To build anticipation for the release of her album on Friday, Carpenter’s Instagram profile will now feature a sneak peek of an unreleased track, giving fans their first taste of the new music. According to Instagram, the music feature on the profile will offer an exclusive first listen of the unreleased song, giving fans a unique opportunity to hear it before its official release.

Instagram notes can change their color

In addition to the feature of adding songs to the profile, Instagram has also added colors to its notes. The words “Demure,” “Cutesy,” “Considerate,” and “Mindful” have been identified as the specific triggers that set off the color change. Sending a message with these phrases can trigger a pink hue, but due to the low color saturation, the tone often appears more off-white than bright pink, depending on the screen quality.

After the brief availability of gold notes in a previous feature that was later discontinued, the pink color option was introduced. Reports confirmed that the gold notes feature was removed and users could no longer use specific keywords to obtain the gold color.
