Formally And Tabitha lead a field of 11 horses for Saturday’s Group 3 Prestige Stakes (G3) at Goodwood. The winner of the seven-furlong showpiece for two-year-old fillies will automatically earn a place in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf through the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series.

Formal, a daughter of Dubawi out of the Group 1 winning mare Veracious, impressed on her debut when winning a seven furlong maiden filly race at Newbury on good to firm ground at odds of 6-1. She moves up in class for trainer Sir Michael Stoute, ridden by Jason Watson.

Tabiti, a daughter of Kingman, was a well-rated 9-5 favorite on her debut when she comfortably defeated a field of 9 horses in a Maiden Sillies Stakes at Newmarket over seven furlongs. The Ralph Beckett-trained mare has notable starting positions for the Al Basti, Rockfel Stakes (G2) and the Fillies’ Mile (G1) at Newmarket later this season.

Anshoda will race for new owners Team Valor International and Gary Barber on Saturday. David Loughnane’s mare carried the colours of Nawaf Almutairi when she won at 33-1 on her debut at Lingfield and then outpaced Celestial Orbit at 66-1 in the Listed EBF Star Stakes at Sandown.

Barry Irwin, CEO of Team Valor International, said: “I liked that she got stuck on the inside at Sandown and couldn’t get any further but then went to the outside and had a great run at the end. And she seems like a very progressive type. She will stay with David Loughnane, he’s a good trainer.”

Aidan O’Brien has never won the Prestige Stakes but will be hoping Merrily can build on her fourth place in the five-furlong Arqana Irish EBF Marwell Stakes at Naas. The daughter of No Nay Never will be returning to a longer distance after making her debut over 6 1/2 furlongs.

Royalty Bay was narrowly beaten in the Prix Six Perfections (G3) at Deavuille for John and Sean Quinn at the end of July and brings a lot of experience to the race.
