Anthony Edwards goes a bit too far…

Anthony Edwards will soon find out if his AE1s taste anywhere near as good as they look. The Timberwolves star just put his foot in it…

We all know that Ant is brimming with confidence and never misses an opportunity to boast about his greatness. Whether he’s praising his diverse athletic abilities with Marney Gellner, boasting about his superiority in freestyle swimming over his Olympic teammates, or challenging the U.S. women’s table tennis team, Ant-Man is always ready to say big things and back them up.

However, Anthony Edwards may have gone too far with his recent comments by poking fun at several generations of NBA legends. His status as one of the league’s darlings may now be in jeopardy, as this latest boast is sure to draw the ire of past and present NBA greats, the media, and, well, anyone who watched a basketball game before the 2020s.

I love Ant’s charisma and confidence as much as anyone, but attacking players like Larry Bird, Isaiah Thomas, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is NOT a way to win favor with the NBA’s elite. Even if Edwards is right – the current level of all-around skill in the NBA is unmatched – it just sends a bad picture to denigrate the legends of the past.

Hopefully Ant can slow down and walk back those comments instead of doubling down on them. After all, momentum is on his side. Just look at this stat below that shows how much attention the Wolves will get this year.

No team is “on the rise” like Minnesota. The world is ready to embrace Anthony Edwards. Now it’s his job to keep it simple!

Hopefully Ant can get over his mistake and show some humility. NBA stars of the last three decades won’t be nearly as forgiving as the U.S. women’s table tennis team!
