House Majority Leader Steven Rudy honored with 2024 Kentucky Chamber MVP Award

House Majority Leader Steven Rudy was honored with the Kentucky Chamber MVP Award on August 21 by Kentucky Chamber of Public Affairs Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Kate Shanks and Senior Manager of Public Affairs John Hughes.

Leader Rudy was among a select group of lawmakers who championed Kentucky’s economy during the 2024 Kentucky General Assembly by showcasing striking policies to strengthen the economy, improve competitiveness and ensure growth.

Recipients of the Kentucky Chamber MVP Award demonstrate strong leadership in the business community by supporting or advancing to final passage important Chamber of Commerce legislation, showing leadership in passing important legislation to improve Kentucky, or advocating for business through decisive voting.

During the 2024 session, Leader Rudy took the lead in bringing a pro-business bill to the House for a vote. He was also the lead sponsor of House Bill 443, which ensures that local laws regarding zoning and development are in the form of objective standards.

“We applaud Leader Rudy for his commitment to passing legislation that will help grow Kentucky’s workforce, maintain our competitiveness with surrounding states and create a better business climate that will benefit all Kentuckians going forward,” said Ashli Watts, President and CEO of the Kentucky Chamber.

The 2024 General Assembly advanced many of Kentucky’s business community’s top priorities, and the pro-growth measures passed saved Kentucky businesses an estimated $1.006 billion, or $589 for every employer in the Commonwealth.

While the Chamber monitors the progress of bills that create a better business climate and move the Commonwealth forward, it also tracks how each legislator votes on those bills. The Chamber’s MVP award recipients not only demonstrated pro-business voting behavior, but also went out of their way, sometimes across party lines, to support or oppose an issue critical to Kentucky’s business climate.
