Frozen 3 will be released in 2027 – What you should know

The third part of the Frozen Series is officially in the works.

CEO of Disney Robert Iger hinted at a continuation of the series in 2023 and even teased a fourth installment. At their biennial D23 Expo, Disney revealed that the hugely popular saga of Snow Queen Elsa will return to theaters.

When will “Frozen 3” be released?

The studio will “release” it on November 24, 2027. Frozen 3 was originally scheduled to open in time for Thanksgiving 2026, but was delayed due to the pandemic and strikes at SAG-AFTRA.

Like its predecessors Frozen 3 will be released in time for Thanksgiving. Frozen And Frozen 2 both set the box office record for the highest-grossing animated film of all time at the time of their release, Frozen 3 should be able to keep up with the billion-dollar sales of its predecessors.

Will the original cast return?

Fans can expect a return of the regular cast, including Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna and Josh Gad as Olaf. Also Kristen Anderson Lopez and her husband Robert Lopezthe songwriters behind the first two Frozen Soundtracks, will return with a third album. Jennifer Leewho wrote the first two films and worked with Chris Buckwill continue to lead the team.

What do we know about the plot?

Lee presented some concept art for the film during her speech at D23. The scene shows beloved sisters Anna and Elsa on horses in a dark forest, overlooking a bright, golden castle in the distance. Olaf joins Anna on the back of her horse, pointing out a menacing shadow close behind them.

What’s next for the franchise?

When Lee spoke about the future of the franchise at D23, she also revealed that the series needs a fourth installment to complete the story. However, she did not mention a timeline for a possible Frozen 4.
