Middle section of test track canopy supports removed in EPCOT
Workers have begun dismantling the support structure of the former Test Track canopy. The canopy itself was removed in early August as part of the redesign of the EPCOT attraction.
Remove test track roof
In late 2022, the canopy was damaged by Hurricane Ian and removed. It was replaced in March 2023, but is gone forever.
Most of the roof of the canopy support structure has now disappeared, only two scaffolding towers and an archway remain.
On Thursday morning, a crane was on site and stood in front of the archway.
Concept drawings (at the end of this article) show that the entire canopy structure will be removed. A new, more permanent canopy will be installed over the attraction’s entrance.
Test Track was closed in June for this redesign and is scheduled to reopen next year.
We previously noted that workers removed the trim from the bottom of the exterior rail.
Test Track 3.0 will “celebrate the innovations of today while highlighting the past, present and future.” Disney said it will take inspiration from World of Motion, which was replaced by Test Track.
The new overhang will be rounded off like the show building. The attraction will also receive a new sign.
