Like most Arkhamverse titles, Arkham Shadow doesn’t hold back when it comes to providing a roster of villains for players to meet or even fight, from famous enemies to obscure threats. Arkham Shadow seems to focus more on storytelling and feature familiar faces from other games before they tragically slipped into villainy. There are a handful Villains already confirmed for Batman: Arkham Origins, and there are certainly more on the way,


7 The Rat King

Instead of one of Batman’s more famous enemies, Batman: Arkham Origins introduces a brand new villain, The Rat Kingas the main antagonist of the story. He leads a cult of domestic terrorists and rat-themed anarchists who are plunging Gotham City into chaos and destruction. To do this, Batman must solve a mystery.

The Rat King, not to be confused with Ratcatcher, seems to be quite a challenge for the younger Batman of the Arkhamverse. In every trailer, Batman talks about being pushed to his limits and thinking about how far he would go to stop the Rat King and save Gotham City, suggesting that the story will see Batman struggle with his rule of not killing anyone.

6 Pied Piper

Although not yet seen, the developers of Batman: Arkham Origins at Camouflaj Studios have the presence of Pied Piper alongside the creation of the Rat King. Details were not given, but it was confirmed that Ratcatcher is connected to the Rat King in some way and will be introduced as Otis Flannegan, who may be a reformed villain who wants to bring the Rat King to Batman.

Originally, fans suspected that the Rat King Was Ratcatcher, as the character was mentioned in some Arkham games before, but that was refuted. As such, Arkham Shadow could establish Ratcatcher as one of the Rat King’s followers, a spiritual successor, or perhaps even an enemy.

5 Two Face

For the first time in the Arkhamverse timeline, fans see Harvey Dent In Arkham Shadowbefore becoming the infamous Two-Face. He teams up with Commissioner Jim Gordon and Batman to try and stop the Rat King’s campaign of chaos in the city. Troy Baker is also confirmed to reprise the role, as he has been the voice of Two-Face in every single episode Arkham Play before this one.

While the trailers only showed him as District Attorney Harvey Dent, there is a high chance that players will witness the tragic event that transforms Harvey from one of Batman’s best friends into a crazed crime boss. The Arkhamverse is known for its twists in Batman Mythology, which could lead to the Rat King being responsible for Harvey’s downfall.


4 Scarecrow

Another character that fans have only seen in the villain role so far, Scarecrow was subtly confirmed that he was in Batman: Arkham Origins. In one shot of the trailer, a doctor can be seen, but he doesn’t have his name or any dialogue. However, there is one detail that confirms his identity: a tie reminiscent of a small noose, and Scarecrow is known to wear a noose in many comics.

Some fans will probably be excited to see Batman meet Scarecrow’s alter ego Jonathan Crane for the first time, as he is one of the most well-known villains in the games. From his terrifying chapters in Arkham Asylum the main opponent of Arkham Knighthe always finds a way to appear in the franchise.


3 HarleyQuinn

The future queen of crime

  • First appearance: Batman: The Animated Series Season 1, Episode 7 “Joker’s Favor”

The voice is again by Tara Strong. Dr. Harleen Quinzel confirms himself as a more decisive figure in Batman: Arkham Origins when they Arkham Origins. She seems to be helping Batman in one way or another, but there are also hints of her villainous side: certain lines of dialogue sound ominous, and there are shots of her enjoying the anarchy the Rat King is bringing to Gotham.

Harleen guides Batman through Arkham Asylum and given her tragic backstory, fans will likely see the Clown Prince Of Crime at least once. And they may even see Harleen become Harley Quinn as the game progresses.

While the Scarface doll can be found in almost every Batman: Arkham fans have never seen the actual Ventriloquist Villain to Batman: Arkham OriginsAs Harleen guides Batman through Arkham Asylum, Arnold Wesker is briefly seen controlling another puppet.


Scarface was probably already taken as a trophy for Director Quincy Sharp, as the doll can be found in a closet in his office. Batman: Arkham Asylum. Arnold Wesker is just one of several ventriloquists under Scarface’s control, the other being Peyton Riley, whose stay in the Arkhamverse is confirmed by a dialogue in Arkham Knight.

The Batman: Arkham Games like to show the hero’s strange and obscure villains, from Firefly to Deacon Blackfire, and Arkham Shadow continues this tradition with Bridging. Similar to Harley Quinn, Lock-Up is a character created specifically for a lesser-known episode of Batman: The Animated Series, but was included in the DC canon in the Robin Solo comics.


Lyle Bolton is a strict security guard when he is introduced, but when he is fired, he becomes Marvel’s Punisher by becoming judge, jury and executioner. Arkham ShadowIt is confirmed that he is a high-ranking officer of the TYGER guards, who were a corrupt paramilitary force for Hugo Strange in Arkham City. He seems to blame Batman for everything that goes wrong in Gotham.
