In 2022, social media was taken hostage by a dance craze sparked by Jenna Ortega‘s appearance as the titular member of the Addams Family in Netflix’ Wednesday. Set to The cramps‘ classic tune, “Goo Goo Muck”, the dance saw the character further stand out from the crowd with some very outlandish moves. Almost two years later, Ortega is probably on the verge of inspiring another viral dance obsession with the arrival of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice just around the corner. This time, however, she’ll have some support, as the rest of her cast mates will also be on-screen, joining in the festivities that will rival the iconic possession scene from the original 1988 film. “The process for
both were very chaotic
and very: “Okay, that

right.’ Except that this one was a little better, because with
Wednesday
it was the night before at three in the morning, like, ‘Oh my God, I told him I was going to do this dance, and I don’t know what I’m going to do.’ Whereas this one was still that pressure, but, ‘Oh, Catherine O’Hara is in this one,
Justin
(
Theroux
) is in this,
Winona
(
Ryder
) is in it.
We’ll all find out together
. She’s got it.’ And Tim also has so much confidence in the person he has that he told us, ‘Oh, it’s okay. Don’t worry.'”

O’Hara praised the choreographer for making the scene as simple as possible, saying: “And the choreographer (Corey Baker), was relaxed and open,” and Ortega added, “Yes, the choreographer was so sweet. He was super cooperative.”

The meaning of “Day-O” in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”

One of the most memorable scenes from the original film. Harry Belfonte‘s “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” was played during the Deetz’s dinner party when the ghosts of Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) let the guests show off their sophisticated footwork. O’Hara confirmed that the song would be revived in the sequel a few months ago, we waited to see what crazy things the Deetz family gets up to this time around. The dinner party scene is perhaps one of the most famous from the beloved film that started it all, so it was of utmost importance that it received some sort of homage in the sequel.
