Injury Update: What happened to Mayank Yadav?

LSG fast bowler Mayank Yadav had suffered a side strain, which was later diagnosed as a tear in the abdomen, during the IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans, due to the fact that he could not bowl more than a single over.

Furthermore, he was excluded from the recent Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 draft as he remained unavailable due to injury.

Why was Mayank Yadav not selected for the Duleep Trophy team?

The BCCI had announced four Duleep Trophy teams and Yadav was not included in any of them as he is not yet fully fit.

He is unlikely to feature in any of the rounds of the Duleep Trophy, which begin on September 5, 12 or 19.

Will Mayank Yadav play the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia?

According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, Yadav is still undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and has been advised to slowly return to full fitness.

“On Mayank Yadav, I cannot give you an answer as there is no guarantee that he will be in the team or not. But he is potentially a good fast bowler and we are looking after him. He is currently with the NCA,” he told the Times of India.

Although he would be an excellent addition to the Test team as a fast bowler in Australian conditions, he is unlikely to be considered for the tour unless he can demonstrate full bowling fitness over the next few months.
