Crew and LAFC reach the final of the Leagues Cup 2024

The Columbus Crew will host LAFC on Sunday in the final of the 2024 Leagues Cup, a rematch of the 2023 MLS Cup and the duel of the last two MLS champions.

Both teams took it easy with their MLS opponents in Wednesday’s semifinals.

The Crew defeated Philadelphia Union 3-1 to reach their third final in the last nine months after the 2023 MLS Cup (2-1 win over LAFC) and the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup (0-3 loss to Pachuca).

LAFC defeated the Colorado Rapids 4-0 to join the Crew as one of the first two MLS teams to qualify for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup. (The third Leagues Cup qualifier will be the winner of Sunday’s third-place match between Philadelphia and Colorado.)

Former LAFC star Diego Rossi scored twice for the Crew in the first half and Cucho Hernández completed the scoring in the 53rd minute.

Mateusz Bogusz and Kei Kamara scored goals three minutes apart late in the first half, and Dénis Bouanga and Lewis O’Brien added goals in the second half for LAFC, who defeated the Colorado Rapids.
