Vin Diesel has hinted that more members of the Fast & Furious franchise could return for the upcoming film Fast X.

The strong cast includes Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. Tyrese Gibson and Sung Kang all return to their roles, but the former has hinted that there could be more familiar faces in the upcoming blockbuster.

In a post on Instagram, Diesel posed for a photo next to Tego Calderón and Don Omar, who play Tego Leo and Rico Santos, respectively.

“Mi gente… Leo y Santos… Grateful for everyone who was part of this journey… Love, always… #FastX #losbandoleros,” read the caption.

Both characters played a larger role in 2011’s Fast Five, and as the latest trailer revealed, there’s a connection to Fast X, so it would make sense for Tego and Rico to appear in some capacity.

The trailer for Fast X revealed Jason Momoa’s villain, who turned out to be Hernan Reyes’ son, and director Louis Leterrier recently announced that he wanted to pay tribute to Fast Five in the latest installment.

“(Fast Five) is by far the best movie in the series. It’s the greatest,” he said. “That chase with the safe is the greatest moment in cinema history, so we thought, ‘Let’s Rashomonize that scene. What if we experienced that scene through the eyes of Reyes, the guys who own the safe, and Dom and Brian are the thieves who kill them?’

“We took those scenes and created them from the point of view of the other guys,” he continued. “We see them from a distance and they say, ‘Take them out. They’re bad guys, they stole our safe.’ That’s the interesting thing – by doing that, you make the audience rethink everything they’ve experienced throughout the series.”

Fast X will be released in theaters on May 19, 2023.
