Predictions for the 2024 Emmy nominations

The 11 days allotted for the final round of Emmy voting end Monday at 10 p.m. PT.

From speaking to a wide range of voters (including one whose choice will be announced Friday as this year’s Brutally Honest Emmys Ballot), my impression is that all three top programming categories are still up for grabs, with two or three candidates in each category sharing the lion’s share of support: FX’s Shogun and Netflix The Crown for best drama series; FX’s The bear and HBO/Max’s Hacking for best comedy series; and Netflix’ Baby reindeer And Ripley and HBO/Max’s True Detective: Nightland for Best Limited/Anthology Series.

Meanwhile, Netflix seems to be pulling ahead in many Variety and nonfiction categories, including Best Recorded Variety Special (Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer), best live variety special (GROAT The greatest roast of all time: Tom Brady), best documentary/non-fiction series (Beckham), Best Documentary/Non-Fiction Special (Pop’s biggest night) and moderated non-fiction series/specials (My next guest with David Letterman and John Mulaney).

Please note: Think of Scott as a meteorologist. His goal in weather forecasting is to correctly predict what will happen, not to stand up for what he thinks should He makes his selections by choosing candidates, surveying voters, analyzing campaigns and studying the results of past Emmy seasons.
