Actor Vijay unveils Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Party flag in Chennai; ‘Will remove caste and religious distinctions, says TVK chief’
At a memorable event at the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party office in Chennai, actor and TVK chairman Vijay unveiled the party’s new flag, marking a major milestone in the party’s development. The unveiling ceremony was attended by party members, supporters and media persons who had gathered to witness this symbolic gesture representing the party’s vision and aspirations. During the ceremony, Vijay delivered a stirring speech to the gathering highlighting the party’s core values and objectives. He said, “I know you all are waiting for our first state conference. Preparations for the same are on and I will announce it very soon. Earlier today, I unveiled our party’s flag. I am very proud… We will work together for the development of Tamil Nadu.”

“We will always honour the fighters who fought and sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our country and the countless soldiers who fought tirelessly on Tamil soil for the rights of our people… I will eradicate differences in the name of caste, religion, gender and place of birth, raise awareness among the people and fight for equal opportunities and equal rights for all. I solemnly affirm that I will uphold the principle of equality of all living beings,” the pledge states.
In a press release issued in Tamil on Wednesday, the actor said, “It is a great blessing when each day represents a new direction and a new force in history. August 22, 2024 is the day that God and nature have given us as such a blessing. It is the day on which the flag, the main symbol of our Tamil Nadu Victory Club, will be unveiled.” “In the service of the welfare of Tamil Nadu, tomorrow at our Head Secretariat, we will unveil our hero flag, the Victory Flag, which will become the symbol of our state, and release the flag song of the association. I am happy to announce that we are hoisting the club flag.” Actor Vijay entered politics and announced the name of his party – Tamilaga Vetri Kazham – in February this year.
