Blue hues dominated 2024, and it’s clear they’re not going away in 2025. Valspar’s Color of the Year is Encore – a rich, saturated jewel tone that’s a sophisticated departure from the bright light blue the brand opted for last year. Valspar’s color trend experts chose this shade for its versatility; the deep blue blends seamlessly into both modern interiors and Old World design styles.

“Its moody, deep blue tones reflect both the elusive luxury of old-world design and the futuristic fusion of our physical and digital worlds, making this color simultaneously familiar and unexpected,” says Sue Kim, color marketing director at Valspar. Make a strong statement by creating a stunning accent wall with this color or jumping on the jewelry box bathroom trend.

Dark brown shades are making a comeback in the design world, and Truffle, STAINMASTER’s Color of the Year, proves that the hue can be both modern and sophisticated. “Truffle complements a wide range of styles, from modern minimalism to rustic chic, and pairs beautifully with a broad color palette from soft neutrals to bold, bold palettes, really elevating the style of any room,” says Monica Reese, trend and style director at Lowe’s. Use this saturated hue to infuse a moody home office, living room or home library with color, or use it as a grounding accent in a neutral palette.

Mochi from Little Greene

Rethink your neutrals with a colour that’s more saturated than a traditional beige, white or grey. Mochi by Little Greene is a rich tan with peachy-pink undertones that will suit both historically inspired homes and ultra-modern spaces. “Rich warm colours make for cosy, restful and charming spaces and are perfect for creating enticing and sumptuous spaces in our homes,” says Ruth Mottershead, creative director at Little Greene. “This delightful neutral shade is perfect for use in ‘all-over’ schemes in both modern and traditional settings and is great for a colourful room as an alternative to white, grey or stone.”

Mottershead recommends pairing Mochi with Scullery, a rich, dark brown, and Shirting, a pure, bright white, to highlight the contemporary elements of a room. To highlight the more traditional elements of a room, pair Mochi with greens and grays for a grounded, earthy feel.
