A Welsh man was stung 160 times by wasps after the insects invaded his home. Andrew Powell, 57, ended up having to go to hospital because he couldn’t sleep because of the pain.

“The sky has turned brown because of the wasps,” Powell told the BBC. The insects targeted him after a local farmer accidentally disturbed their nest in a field. “I stumbled into the house when I went to the toilet, but they followed me and stung my clothes.”

The man managed to avoid being stung on his face, although the wasps stung him 15 times in the back of his head. The rest of his body was stung another 145 times, the BBC reported.

Eventually a friend took him to the hospital, where, according to Powell, he lost consciousness several times. “I just saw a white light and thought, ‘Here we go.'”

He was given painkillers in the hospital and is now recovering at home.
