Gamescom 2024 is in full swing and some of the biggest video game announcements of the year are already being revealed at the event. The show kicked off yesterday with Opening Night Live and we’ve already gotten tons of exciting news and game reveals from the show. As a continuation of the opening act, Xbox is now offering daily livestreams to talk more in-depth about their upcoming releases.

To guide you through the event’s biggest reveals, we’ve put together a list of some of the most exciting announcements, trailers, and news from the show. Borderlands 4 confirmed

Hot on the heels of the Borderlands movie comes the announcement that Borderlands 4 is indeed happening and will be released sometime in 2025. The game was announced with a teaser trailer that appears to contain several secrets that fans may not notice upon first viewing.

Although the title of the game is Borderlands 4, it will actually be the 8th game in the Borderlands series.

Release date for Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 announced

Fans of the Civilization games will be happy to hear that not only did we get to see gameplay of the upcoming game for the first time, but we also have a confirmed release date. Civilization 7 will be released on February 11, 2025 on Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Deluxe Edition will be playable 5 days early.

Trailer for Amazon’s Secret Level series

One of the most popular reveals at Opening Night Live was an upcoming Amazon series called Secret Level. It’s an animated anthology series from the creators of Love, Death, and Robots that focuses on a series of new short stories from some of the most popular video games.

Secret Level will feature a total of 15 episodes, featuring stories from games like God of War, Warhammer 40K, and many more. If you’re curious about which ones are included, we have a breakdown of all the video games we saw in the trailer above.

Release date for “Indianna Jones and the Great Circle” announced

During ONL, we got another update on the highly anticipated Indiana Jones game. The game is set to release on December 9th for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It was also announced that a PS5 version is currently in development, but isn’t scheduled to be released until spring 2025. Xbox boss Phil Spencer went into a little more detail about the decision to release the game on PS5 as well.

Release date of the all-digital Xbox Series X

All the power of an Xbox Series X, but without a drive.

Although it was not necessarily announced at Today at gamescom, Xbox unveiled two new Xbox Series X consoles and a new Xbox Series S console. The new consoles were revealed on Xbox Wire along with the release dates of the all-digital consoles in Robot White. These new Xbox lineup releases will be released on October 15, 2024.

All three consoles are available for pre-order now and cost less than the versions with built-in drives.

Genshin Impact is coming to Xbox

Genshin Impact has been a very popular game for quite some time, and now it will finally be coming to the Xbox platform. Until now, Genshin Impact has only been available on PC, PlayStation, and mobile, so the news that it is coming to Xbox is pretty significant for anyone who wants to play on their Microsoft console. The game is set to release on Xbox Series consoles on November 20, 2024.

The next Dying Light game has been announced

A third entry in the Dying Light series has been officially announced. Dying Light: The Beast currently doesn’t have a release date, but we’ve found out that original protagonist Kyle Crane will return as a playable character in the new game.

Goat Simulator: Remastered announced

During ONL, it was announced that the original Goat Simulator game would be getting an official remastered, simply titled Goat Simulator: Remastered. There are a surprising number of Goat Simulator games out there already, but the remastered version of the popular 2014 game will offer more than just improved graphics. All DLC released for the game will also be available as part of the new version, including one DLC that was previously only available in the mobile version.

New Mario Kart LEGO sets announced

The LEGO Group announced today that there will be six official LEGO sets for Mario Kart. The new sets will be released on January 1st and feature iconic characters from the franchise. Although there have been a number of Mario LEGO collaborations as part of the LEGO Nintendo range, this is the first time that the Mario Kart franchise is featured.

These new sets are currently being showcased on the gamescom 2024 exhibition floor.
