Practical experience with Stand One Max 3rd generation

Just like the Stand One and Base One range, the new Stand One Max features an exceptional design with high-quality materials.

The charger’s body is constructed from two solid metal blocks with a glass top that is CNC machined for precise construction.

At 861 grams (1.9 pounds), Stand One Max offers a sturdy weight that exudes quality with every touch. That also means it stays put.

Like the Stand One, the Stand One Max’s base is made from a fully rubberized pad that provides an effective grip. And the included 2-meter USB-C cable features a durable braided nylon outer shell.

Like the 2nd generation Stand One and Stand One Max, the 3rd generation uses an angle of around 20 degrees. As I mentioned, this allows me to comfortably use my iPhone in a variety of places, from my nightstand to the kitchen or my desk at work. However, the angle is a little more vertical than some chargers – 30 degrees is more common with fixed angle chargers.

3rd generation improvements

In my test of the previous model Stand One Max with MagSafe, I raised two constructive criticisms.

First, the floating fast charger for the Apple Watch was placed in such a way that one could not charge the wearable device and use the iPhone in standby mode.

Secondly, due to its weight distribution, the Apple Watch Ultra would rest at an angle and not centered on the charger.

I’m happy to say that Nomad has addressed these issues with the 3rd generation Stand One Max by placing the Apple Watch fast charger on the base of the device.

Nomad Stand One Max Conclusion

If you’re looking for a high-quality MagSafe multi-device charger with a premium glass and metal design, the Stand One Max is a fantastic choice.

In addition to the improved layout, the 3rd generation is $30 cheaper than the 2nd generation.

You can get the Stand One Max now direct from Nomad for $150—and don’t forget you’ll need a 30W power adapter if you don’t already have an extra one.
