Anyone who wants to learn to dance Sevillanas or simply brush up on their technique can take advantage of the “Express Sevillana Course” organized by the Fuengirola City Council. The initiative, which was first launched in 2014, is organized in the run-up to the Feria del Rosario, the city’s fair, which takes place from October 6 to 12.

The traditional Andalusian dance classes will take place on the next five Wednesdays (August 28 and September 4, 11, 18 and 25) from 8pm in the municipal auditorium in Parque de España and will be led by dance teacher Alicia Iranzo. Each day will focus on one of the four parts of the dance and the last lesson will be a summary of all the previous ones.

The free lessons were announced by festival councillor Isabel Moreno, who said that this initiative had been “a success both in terms of participation and organisation” over the last ten years.

Registration for the courses is not necessary, added the city councilor. “Just come along wearing comfortable shoes and clothes and bring your desire to dance.”

The dance teacher encouraged everyone to participate “because it will be a fun learning experience.” “Participants will have the opportunity to learn or brush up on Sevillanas. The most important thing is that during this year’s celebrations everyone knows how to dance them,” she said.
