Moorhead murder victim identified as 14-year-old girl – InForum

MOORHEAD – Police said the body they found on the banks of the Red River early Tuesday morning, Aug. 20, was that of 14-year-old Jaelyn Nichole Walker of Moorhead.

An 18-year-old Fargo man, Isaac Arndt, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with Walker’s death. He is being held in the Cass County Jail on suspicion of being a fugitive. A news release from Moorhead police said Arndt is awaiting extradition to Minnesota to face murder charges.

According to police, Arndt and Walker knew each other.

Walker’s cause of death has not yet been determined, but police are treating it as homicide. Her body was found in the area of ​​Sixth Avenue and Elm Street South by officers searching for her after Walker was reported missing shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

According to police, her body was taken to the Ramsey County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Late Tuesday, Moorhead police posted an appeal to the public on social media, asking for help in locating a Samsung Galaxy phone with an orange case and anyone who may have taken Arndt.

Police said the investigation was ongoing but they “believe this was an isolated incident between two known individuals and there is no known threat to the public.”
