Shiloh Jolie officially drops “Pitt” from her last name – NECN

One of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children has officially dropped “Pitt” from his name.

A Los Angeles court on Monday granted a request by the former couple’s third eldest child to officially change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.

She originally submitted the application for an official name change on May 27, her 18th birthday.

Several media outlets have reported that other children of Jolie and Pitt have informally dropped Pitt from their names, but Shiloh is the first to take legal action to formalize the name change. Notably, for example, her daughter Vivienne was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in a program for “The Outsiders” on Broadway.

In addition to Shiloh and Vivienne, the former couple has four other children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Knox.

The “Maleficent” actress, who rose to fame in the 1990s, filed for a name change herself in 2002 to officially drop her father Jon Voight’s surname after their relationship allegedly deteriorated.

Pitt and Jolie had been together for ten years when they married in 2014. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 and in 2019 a judge declared the two single. However, the divorce proceedings are still ongoing as custody and financial issues remain disputed.

In recent years, the actors have also filed lawsuits against each other over disagreements about shared business ventures and properties, including a vineyard in France.

In a 2022 court document, Jolie claimed that Pitt grabbed and shook her head on a 2016 flight, then choked one of her children and hit another when they tried to defend her.

Representatives for Shiloh did not respond to requests for comment.

News that the request was approved was first reported by celebrity website TMZ.
