Little is currently known about the song, although the two appear to be dressed in country-inspired outfits on the artwork released alongside the announcement. If that’s the case, then the artists will be the latest in a battalion of pop artists going “country” this year, led by Beyoncé and Post Malone.

The song is the first new headlining music from both artists in years — Mars since his Grammy-winning Silk Sonic project with Anderson .Paak two years ago and Gaga since her 2020 album Chromatica, although she did make a stunning appearance on “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” from the Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds album last year.

Gaga, of course, stars in the upcoming comic musical “Joker: Folie À Deux,” in which she sings but “is unlike anything I’ve ever done before,” she said in a recent interview with Empire. The Grammy and Oscar winner stars in the film alongside Joaquin Phoenix Lee, a reimagining of Harley Quinn.

“People know me by my stage name, Lady Gaga, right? That’s me as The actor, but that’s not what this movie is,” Gaga said. “I’m playing a character. So I worked a lot on how I sing to get from Lee, and to not comes from me as an artist… How do you make music a mere extension of dialogue rather than breaking out into song for no apparent reason?”

The new song featuring Mars doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the film and is presumably the first single from an upcoming Gaga album, although there has been no official announcement yet.
