Leinster Rugby secures key dates for Investec Champions Cup at Aviva Stadium

Leinster Rugby have confirmed that their 2024–25 Champions Cup group matches will be played at the Aviva Stadium as redevelopment work is carried out at their usual home ground, the RDS Arena. The decision to change venues comes as Leinster prepare for another tough season in Europe’s elite rugby competition.

Last season’s Champions Cup finalists, Leinster will face familiar rivals in a challenging group. They have been drawn alongside French giants La Rochelle and Clermont Auvergne, and English Premiership sides Bath and Bristol Bears. These ties promise to be exciting, especially given Leinster’s recent history with some of those teams.

Leinster’s home group stage matches will take place in December and January. They will face Clermont and Bath on home soil. The Aviva Stadium was chosen as the venue for these important matches. Although Croke Park had been considered, particularly after Leinster’s successful semi-final win over Northampton last season and their United Rugby Championship (URC) match against Munster in October, Leinster rugby chiefs ultimately opted for the Aviva. The Aviva at Lansdowne Road is a more familiar and comfortable environment for the team.

Pool 2 also includes Italian club Benetton, but they will not face Leinster. Similar to last year, clubs from the same national league will not play against each other in the pool phase of the Champions Cup.

With Leinster aiming for European success once again, the Aviva Stadium will play a central role in hosting these exciting matches as the team looks to return to the top of European rugby.
