On Tuesday, November 12th, the NBA Cup begins its second year as the league’s seasonal tournament, and there are some interesting matches on the program.

On opening night, the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks will play a rematch of their first round playoffs in 2024. Later in the evening, Klay Thompson returns to Golden State to face his old team when the Dallas Mavericks face the Warriors.

On the second night of the game on November 15, LeBron James and Victor Wembanyama, who just faced each other in the Olympic gold medal game, will face off when the first NBA Cup champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, visit the San Antonio Spurs.

Here are the six groups for the 2024 NBA Cup:

• Eastern Group A: New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets

• East Group B: Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons

• Eastern Group C: Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards

• West Group A: Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers

• West Group B: Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs

• West Group C: Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies

For the tournament, all 30 NBA teams were drawn into groups of five within their conference and based on their results in the 2023-24 regular season. Each team will play one game against the other four opponents in its group.

The group matches for the 2024 NBA Cup will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays from November 12 to December 3. There will be no regular season games on these evenings – only those that are part of the tournament.

The “Cup Nights” will take place on Tuesdays 12th, 19th, 26th November and 3rd December, and on Fridays 15th, 22nd and 29th November.

The eight teams that advance from the group stage (the winners of each group plus one wildcard team in each conference) will compete in single-elimination knockout rounds on December 10 and 11 before advancing to the semifinals (December 14) and final (December 17), which will be played at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The 22 teams that do not qualify for the quarter-finals of the knockout round will have two additional regular season matches to be played on December 12/13 and December 15/16. The losing teams of the quarter-finals will face each other in regular season matches on December 12/16.

The NBA Cup winner and the runner-up team split the money from a prize pool. Each player on the winning team received $500,000, while the runners-up each received $200,000.
