Who’s performing on day two at the DNC? What we know so far – NBC Chicago
Who will speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday?
While organizers released a list of artists for the first night on Monday, the list of expected musical guests was missing from Tuesday’s speaker list and schedule – but some big names are still expected.
Both Chicago rapper Common and R&B musician Patti LaBelle were seen warming up at Chicago’s United Center on Tuesday, suggesting the two are expected to perform on the second night of the DNC.
Three performances were planned for Monday, but headliner James Taylor was canceled due to scheduling delays.
There was speculation that other big names besides Common and LaBelle could be on stage on Tuesday.
Musician John Legend will headline a private concert on Tuesday night, but could he also perform during the convention itself?
Legend is scheduled to perform at a party hosted by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and First Lady MK Pritzker at the Salt Shed concert hall on Tuesday night, following the governor’s address at the DNC.
Legend was spotted by several reporters at the United Center before rehearsals began for the evening.
The singer is an outspoken supporter of President Joe Biden’s administration and performed at his inauguration in 2021. In recent days, he has also spoken out in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris.
“She’s happy to see someone who is black and Asian like her,” he said of his daughter, who looks up to the vice president.
Legend will also release a new children’s album later this month, titled “My Favorite Dream,” produced by Sufjan Stevens.
The Killers are also expected to take a day off from their Las Vegas studio to play at a private party in Chicago for DNC guests.
Although The Killers are not as politically active, frontman Brandon Flowers said he felt “less anxious” after Biden took office in 2021. The band also recorded a song called “Land of the Free” in 2019, a response to the epidemic of gun violence in the United States.
According to CNN, Flowers also appeared at an event with former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2012.
Grammy Award winner Jason Isbell performed on the first night of the convention, as did Grammy-nominated country star Mickey Guyton.
James Taylor was actually supposed to take the stage, but was withdrawn by the organizers during the evening on Monday due to time constraints.
The second night of the DNC begins at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and you can stream all of the speeches and appearances in the player above.
