Avnos’ carbon dioxide removal research and development facility opens in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Avnos welcomed Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. and Bridgewater community officials to its newly opened research and development facility in Bridgewater.

Representatives from Kean and Bridgewater toured the facility to get a close look at Avnos’ research and development process, hear direct testimony from employees and learn about the company’s growth since opening.

The tour also discussed Avnos and Rep. Kean’s broader goals, including promoting domestic innovation, creating new jobs and economic opportunities, and promoting clean energy development.

Since May 2020, Avnos has grown to three locations with 24 employees across the United States and has secured access to over $100 million in total capital.

Avnos’ Bridgewater R&D facility serves as a testing ground for its innovative Hybrid Direct Air Capture (“HDAC”) technology, which does not require water or heat from the environment. Instead, the Avnos HDAC system produces water, making it versatile.

Direct air capture is a promising global opportunity with enormous economic potential. Avnos’ New Jersey facility was established to advance the carbon removal industry. Lessons learned from Bridgewater’s R&D facility will be demonstrated at Avnos’ pilot plant in Bakersfield, California (Project Alpine) and help scale future projects across the country.

“New Jersey’s Seventh District is home to important innovators like Avnos who are working to make New Jersey a national leader in new clean technologies,” said Kean. “My tour of Avnos’ facility was enlightening. I will continue to support policies that create economic opportunity for the residents of New Jersey and across the country.”

“We will work hand-in-hand with local and state elected officials on policies that will help develop solutions that eliminate historic carbon emissions and deliver tangible benefits to our communities,” said Will Kain, CEO of Avnos.
