Former WWE stars disagree in money talks with AEW – TJR Wrestling

Two former WWE stars could soon be on their way to AEW.

In October 2023, the Grizzled Young Vets team consisting of James Drake and Zack Gibson finally left WWE after their contracts with the company expired.

The two have since returned to the independent scene, and have also appeared in TNA and, very briefly, AEW. Gibson and Drake teamed up to face The Acclaimed on the April 27 edition of Collision, but it was the AEW regulars who took the win.

Since then, it has been reported that there have been talks between the former WWE men and Tony Khan, but no deal has been reached yet.

During a Q&A session at Fightful, Sean Ross Sapp noted that the two sides are far apart on money issues.

“Grizzled Young Vets are the big ones. I know they were far apart financially.”

Several AEW stars could move to WWE

While AEW is reportedly trying to sign Ricochet and Bobby Lashley after their departure from WWE, three All Elite stars appear to be going the opposite way.

In recent weeks, it has been reported that Ricky Starks is expected to move to WWE when his current contract expires. Starks has not wrestled on AEW television since March.

Aside from the speculation surrounding Starks, it has been reported that the Lucha Brothers have already received an offer from WWE after making it clear that they want to leave AEW.

However, the latest report on the situation claimed that Tony Khan could significantly delay the move by extending Rey Fenix’s contract to include injury-related time off, which could keep the star in the company for another year.
