The most controversial storage sheds in the most controversial parking lot in local history have been removed and relocated. The move came after a court order from Allegany County Judge Thomas Brown ordering the owner, Iris and William LLC, to remove the sheds was upheld by the Fourth Judicial Department:

Parking spaces are important!

In March, Timothy and Eileen Shea, who own property adjacent to the parking lot, had several tenants directly affected by the ongoing dispute with the Town of Wellsville. In March, they asked Allegany County Superior Court Judge Thomas Brown for a temporary restraining order. The request called for the removal of the wooden storage sheds and barriers from the parking lot to allow proper entry and exit for vehicles using the lot.

Read our previous coverage of this court order, including the court documents, below:

Crews worked all day to transport the sheds to the property on Riverside Drive. Crews were hired by Iris and William LLC and volunteered to pick them up.

From Tuesday morning into the early afternoon, Travis Weaver of Rolling Acres Transport in Franklinville was busy dismantling the sheds three at a time.

While many 22-year-olds use a remote control for video games, Weaver has a hydraulic system connected to a remote control that allows him to securely mount three scales in the truck bed by moving three different parts of the bed. He even moves the entire bed left and right while the tires slide along, keeping his truck stable.

Wellsville Sun video of the pickup and removal of the storage units (story continues after video):

The sheds were transported to a property on Riverside Drive/Route 19 next to the Kwik Fill gas station.

An attorney for Iris and William LLC, Ralph Ligora, confirmed that the case will be appealed in New York court. Ligora said a full statement will be released shortly. We will post it as soon as it is available.

Wellsville Township Mayor Randy Shayler declined to comment on the matter because litigation between the township and Iris and William LLC is ongoing. In late 2023, the township began the process to acquire the property using the right of expropriation. This process is ongoing and our latest coverage of this litigation can be found below:

The parking lot is now without a storage shed, but according to eyewitness accounts, the treated wood barriers and a large no parking sign have been reinstalled. It is unclear whether the barriers are a violation of the court order to restore “entrances and exits.” Stay tuned for updates on this story:
