SALT LAKE CITY — Several weeks after Taberon Honie executed for the murder of his ex-girlfriend’s mother in 1998The state of Utah has announced the cost of the execution.

The Utah Department of Corrections released the cost breakdown for the execution on the morning of August 8. The total was $288,685.29.

According to the line items, the largest cost of $260,906.58 was for “Medical Services and Supplies,” of which $200,000 alone was for the dose of pentobarbital used to kill Honie.

Additional items totaling $16,804.84 related to “event costs (supplies and equipment)” and $10,973.86 for “personnel and overtime” spent on the event.

The state had The original plan was to use a combination of ketamine, fentanyl and potassium chloride to carry out the death sentence, but switched to pentobarbital when faced with possible legal objections from Honie’s defense attorney.

After more than 25 years in prison, Honie was pronounced dead at 0:25 am after receiving the lethal injection. He was convicted and sentenced to death for break into Claudia Benn’s house, slit her throat and sexually abuse her.
